Chaplin vs. Hitler

Shown above is an early Charlie Chaplin film, “The Tramp” (1915), accompanied by the high society singer known as “Hutch.” The farmer’s daughter is Edna Purviance.

Chaplin was born on April 16, 1889, just four days before Adolf Hitler. Hitler would later adopt Chaplin’s trademark moustache known throughout the world and put Chaplin on his “Death List.” In 1940, Chaplin produced “The Great Dictator” as an act of defiance against Hitler.
