The Real Emo
Among my unusual encounters with famous comedians, one of the most awkward was with the brilliant Emo Philips . Awhile ago I caught his strange act. He did an encore, but I had to go to the bathroom badly. I held it in just long enough to catch the curtain call and then I rushed to the bathroom. I was at the urinal and none other than Emo pulls up to the urinal next to me. He looked over, kind of embarrassed, and said “Must be the asparagus.”

Reminds me of the time I was in the bathroom at the intermission of Rent when it opened in 1996. Neil Young was a urinal away and I couldn’t think of a non music topic to chatter about. In hindsight I should have brought up that he was a windsurfer. Oh well!
